Lobbe stops joint project with Harmuth for sewage sludge incineration in Essen city harbour
Iserlohn, 4.8.20 - The resumption of the waste disposal plant originally planned one and a half years ago on the site of vorn Harmuth at the city harbour in Essen is finally stopped. The 50 percent owner of the planned energy recovery plant, Lobbe Entsorgung West GmbH & Co KG, will not implement the project.
"The economic framework conditions have changed fundamentally. Operating an incineration plant for sewage sludge no longer makes sense under the given framework conditions," explains Managing Director Christoph Aßmann of Lobbe Entsorgung West GmbH & Co KG in Iserlohn. "The demand for recycling plants with a focus on sewage sludge has been exhausted in Germany. These recycling capacities are covered by the existing and projected plants," Christoph Aßmann continues.
The Lobbe group of companies is therefore withdrawing from a possible investment and conversion of the former Harmuth waste incineration plant on the site of the city harbour in Essen-Borbeck.
