For the study conducted by the communications consultancy Faktenkontor on behalf of Focus and Focus Money, the training officers of the 20,000 companies with the most employees from 93 sectors were surveyed. 745 companies received the award as "Germany's best training companies 2018". A questionnaire with various topics was sent to the respective training officer. Questions were asked in five sub-aspects to assess the quality of training: structural data, training success, training remuneration, training quota and additional offers for trainees. Companies with a score of at least 70 - that is a total of 745 - receive the award "Germany's best training companies".
Demographic change has arrived - also in the workplace. Employers feel the effects of the ageing society first when filling their training places. The baby boomers have long since left school - and the forecasts clearly show that fewer and fewer young people are available as future apprentices. On the other side are the pupils. As far as vocational training is concerned, they often "can't see the wood for the trees". Of course, this is no wonder: in Germany there are now several hundred apprenticeship occupations in over 400,000 companies. In addition, there are various training paths. Depending on the quality of the school-leaving certificate, there are other options besides the classic apprenticeship. For example, dual courses of study are becoming more and more popular, in which company practice and specialised theoretical learning are combined.
